BM: Tell us about your journey/love story as a couple! How did you meet? How did he (or you!) propose?
MM: Kyle and I met at a summer job which was at a baseball stadium. He was completing his college internship, and I needed some extra cash before heading off to college. We went to two different universities and were long distance for about 4 years. Kyle graduated and got a job out of the King of Prussia area, and once I graduated, I took the first job I was offered just so that we could be in the same city for once! After moving in together, Kyle waited a year to propose. For Christmas 2013, Kyle gave me tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway in NYC for that following March. We planned a whole weekend trip around the show. We explored the city by going to the top of the Rockefeller Center, dinner at Del Frisco’s, and then he finally got down on one knee right before the show! It was definitely a magic carpet ride that I was not expecting!!
BM: How did you figure out your wedding style – was it what you thought you were going to go for, or were you surprised at what you picked (your dress, flowers, decor)? How did it come together?
MM: The wedding style was difficult to figure out at first. We knew we wanted a fall wedding, so we wanted to use the natural beautiful colors of the season. I did a lot of research on the flowers and what I wanted within a bouquet and centerpiece. I was fortunate to work with Ami and have her vision for the perfect fall flowers, and it was great that she knew my venue very well! We were able to use the pumpkins and vibrant colors to coordinate my Cinderella ball gown and beautiful country club venue. It came together easily once we had a color palette of navy, grey, and orange. A lot of my inspiration came from Pinterest, as well!
BM: What flowers were you drawn to? How was your appointment with Blue Moon? What ideas did you bring with you? How did you feel about your flowers after speaking to one of our designers?
MM: I was drawn to the flowers that came in vibrant colors, and also eucalyptus. I wanted to use oranges, maroons, blues, within my flowers and it all came together perfectly with the ceremony and reception flowers. I had originally thought I wanted to put the centerpieces into hollowed out pumpkins, but after speaking further with Ami, I realized that it would not be fancy enough for the venue. We worked together to come up with tall and short, but full centerpieces that really brought out the fall colors. We also used three floating lanterns on some of the table to give the room a more romantic feel, with eucalyptus and pine cones surrounding the bottom of the vases. Ami was a dream to work with and always gave me her opinion, but made sure my vision was complete at the end of the day.
BM: The day of – walk us through your emotions and the day! How did you personalize your day? What was your reaction to your flowers?
MM: I can honestly say that I cried when Kevin came to the venue with the flowers. I had shown Ami plenty of pictures and drew out the vision for the day, but it was so surreal actually seeing the finished product in person! The ceremony aisle was beautiful with the pumpkins and bright colored mums. It was exactly what I had envisioned. The bouquets and centerpieces were incredible. My emotions were definitely running high, but it seemed to all come together once I saw the flowers and the finished product in the reception ball room.
